About

We were founded on July 27, 2011 by Ben & Shannon Mangon in honor of their daughter, Lauren K. Wright who passed away in a tragic car accident on July 4, 2011.

Brendon Hamblin started his own chapter of Rise Above on September 26, 2012 at The Ohio State School for the Blind.

We are a mentoring, support and accountability group focusing on reducing bullying in our schools and communities.

Mission Statement:

We choose to Rise Above negative situations by:

*Practicing forgiveness instead of retaliation
*Using "cool off" time and peer/mentor support to diffuse fights and arguments
*Going to the source when faced with gossip & rumors
*Anonymous and random acts of kindness in the form of a weekly challenge for all members
*Using visual/tactile reminders to Rise Above our natural reaction to retaliate
*Offering online support and encouragement via our Facebook Group and website
*Mentoring others, especially younger kids
*Making new friends outside our comfort zone
*Accepting all people, regardless of differences
*Using positive peer pressure to encourage accountability
*Believing that kindness and tolerance will become your first reaction the more you practice it.
